Block Island is a vacation destination with ferry's traveling to the island from RI, CT, Mass & NY.
Reportedly the Island has 1,000 year round residents and 15,000 to 20,000 seasonal visitors a DAY!
The Island's downtown is 4 blocks long filled with restaurants, hotels and shops.
What to do on the island? Go to the beach, eat and shop!....shop at the Empire Emporium Market of course!!!!
ABOUT THE EMPIRE EMPORIUM- >
Located at 17 Water St. New Shoreham, RI
The Empire Emporium is a unique co-op retail specialty store.
Below please find a short video of the Emporium Market from the summer of 2020- please note the front doors will be expanding to 4 glass doors with an interior renovation offering a clear view to the market from curbside. Also note that the interior will be more colorful, offer more products and will packed with shoppers!
While tourism was lower than usual last summer due to the pandemic, the Emporium was busy and visitors were there to shop!
Store will be open 7 days a week from 10am - 9pm or 8pm (if a movie night)
Summer of 2021- Opening day, Saturday June 26th - Closing day, Friday, September 5th (just over 10 weeks)
Staff will handle check out and stocking shelves with inventory on hand.
The Empire stays cool in the summer months via fans.
All RI and Federal COVID re-opening and safety guidelines followed.
Vendor sales checks issued every two weeks
Minimum participation is four (4) weeks- if after four weeks a vendor decides to withdraw from the market (the request must be in writing) their products will be removed from the market sales floor and stored while arrangements for pick up are made.
Each vendor will be assigned a vendor number. If you have one you prefer to use, please note on the application in the applicable field.
Each vendor will be asked to provide a large tote filled with surplus inventory to hold in the back room.
Due to vehicle limitations and ferry reservations you additional inventory and surplus stock may be delivered to the market via
1- Great New England Shows' staff will collect inventory at a minimum of every two weeks and travel the ferry to the Emporium to re-stock, check in and provide back-up inventory. Staff will establish meeting locations off of Rte 95 from Maine to the Pt. Judith Ferry.
*A small additional fee may be required
2- Mail your items via Fedex or UPS directly to the Market
3- Deliver yourself- you are always welcomed at the market!
These logistics will be worked out via a conference call to be schedule upon application approval. We realize each situation may be different and we are willing to work with you. Please refrain from inquiring regarding delivery logistics until you are notified of acceptance and we have a private one-on-one conference call.
All approved Artisans will be invited down to the Emporium the week prior to opening day to set up your space and meet staff - if you so chose. This is an option and of course, you are welcome to come by the Emporium at any time
** NO CREDIT CARD FEES- The market absorbs this cost.
** No need to pay any SALES TAX. Sales tax will be collected from the customer and paid to appropriate government entities by the Emporium. Vendors do not need a resale tax ID to be a vendor
The Emporium is not responsible for items lost, broken or stolen. Video cameras are in place and staff present during operating hours. During a movie, merchandise is locked behind a gate and fencing and monitored by staff
Products (every one!) must be tagged with their unique vendor ID# and price
Consumable products (food, personal care, etc.) must list the Empire Emporium and GNE Events as additional insures for the summer.
Rental space may be customized to meet your display. This should be discussed in the post acceptance phone conference. Pricing on custom spaces will be determined based on space requests
Currently, the market offers 74 shelves and 8 racks. However, with renovations planned to remove 5 additional seat rows, additional market space will become available
Shelves are 4' long, 15" high and 12" deep. This space is referred to as 'A SHELF'

Rack fees are $60 per week
Shelving $30 per week plus 30% commission
Rack $60 per week plus 30% commission
No credit card fees
No sales tax

A sign up sheet will be available to volunteer to sell your wares- talk about your wares and be on the show floor!
We will allow (if you so chose) two vendors on the market floor at any time.
